Wonderful Year Mixed Media Card

In a few days Jewish people around the world will celebrate the new Jewish year. One of the customs of the holiday is to send and give each other cards wishing a happy new year.

This Saturday MIXTRAVAGANZA is dedicated to this wonderful holiday! I created a mixed media card wishing someone special a wonderful year.

I've used Prima products including resist canvas pages which are one of my favorite thing to create with. Of course I added all kinds of embellishments and I didn't forget to design the inside of the card as well.
Check out the video for all the tips I share and don't forget to subscribe.

Wishing you all a wonderful year!!

Our Wonderland

A new layout I designed for Prima August BAP. The sketch had two distinct areas divided by a border. So I decided to create a layout that tells a two part story. The left side is the name of the story, the cover of the book if you will. The right side of the page is the story itself, a story about a land of wonders. The story is "poring" out of the torn layered papers border that resemble old book pages.

To create this layout I started by taring my base paper and then I added layers of patterned paper and rolled them out with my fingers.

I added the images to the layout and started building the wonderland around them using flowers and embellishments. I created the flow of the layout by arranging the embellishments from the border and to the right so it will look like they're coming out of the layered papers.

To finish the layout I added stars with acrylic white paint and a stencil as well as dabbing a sponge with the same paint all over the paper.

Altered Steampunk Tin Box

Today will get familiar with the term Steampunk. Steampunk is originally a literary genre that has developed into so much more since the 19th century when it was created. The term steampunk imade of two words: steam - because it has to include a steam based gadgetry or machine parts and punk - which represents the more rebellious, fantasy part of it. It was created in the era of queen Victoria of England. Today it's an artistic trend that includes metal embellishments, machine or industrial parts and colors such as black, brown, gold, copper, rust and all their metallic variations. A steampunk project will include cog wheels, chains, keys, screws, zippers, clock parts or other machinery parts etc.

So...I'm sharing my altered tin box that I designed in a steampunk style.

The texture on the box was created with an aluminum foil technique and covered with paint. Then I added all the metal embellishments after treating them with alcohol ink and embossing powder.

Pockets of Memories Mini Album

Mini albums are one of my favorite things to create. It's like telling a story from start to finish without the need to stop after a few pages.

This Saturday MIXTRAVAGANZA video tutorial is all about creating a mini album that would not only tell a story from start to finish but will have room for all the photos and journaling of that story!

The secret is pockets! Increase your scrapbooking space by creating more space...pocket space!!
Here are a few examples...

Check out the video for all the details on how to create different kinds of pockets and embellishments!

Interactive Mixed Media Layout

One of my favorite things is scrapbooking is interactive design. I love it when the viewer is part of the story of the layout and needs to find out and discover the story and be a part of it. This video tutorial is all about creating an interactive layout with opening windows.

I'm using papers from one of my favorite collections of all times Timepiece by Bo Bunny. I created a brick wall on the paper with modeling paste and stencil and then added the interactive windows.

I finished the layout with a few wooden embellishments and flowers.

Saturday MIXTRAVAGANZA - Art journal page - TEXTURE

This video tutorial is all about texture! But not just texture...texture with a meaning. What does it mean you ask? it means that all the texture on the art journal page has a purpose, a meaning and a point.

All of us have bumps in our life. They can be small or big, emotional or physical but they all make it difficult for us to continue our journey in life. I say that bumps are a part of life! They are here to teach us something about ourselves or about the world and we should learn to accept them and deal with them.

I created an art journal full of bumps. Different kinds of texture to remind us we are all different but bumps are a part of everybody's life! All the texture is made with the amazing Spellbinders embossing folders which have two embossing patterns on each folder!
