Smoothfoam Vintage Clock Tutorial

I'm happy to share with you my second project for Smoothfoam! What I loved about making this clock (besides the fact that it was easy and fun!) was being able to gather some of my favorite stickers, stamps, bottle caps, game pieces and other ephemera into pretty clusters all around the clock face.

Here are what you need to make this clock. You can give the clock your personal touch by adding more of your favorite embellishments.

Supplies:
10″ Smoothfoam disc
3-1/2″ Smoothfoam half-heart
DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint – Buttermilk, Tomato RedTim Holtz idea-ology Salvage Stickers – Crowded AtticTim Holtz idea-ology Clear Stamps – Life’s PossibilitiesTim Holtz idea-ology Game Pieces
Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Vintage photoTsukineko Versa-Fine Ink
Plastic Word Beads
Bottle Caps, assorted card making embellishments
Paintbrush
Sponge
Aleene’s Original Tacky GlueClock movement kit

1. Paint disk with two coats of Buttermilk; allow to dry.
2. Paint half-heart with two coats of red; allow to dry.
3. Refer to the photo (click to enlarge) to stamp the disc with clock and bird stamps.
4. Rub the edges with distress ink and a sponge.
5. Embellish as desired—be sure the elements do not block the path of the clock’s hands.
6. Attach a clock movement following the kit directions.

Bulletin Board from....

Styrofoam!
Hello dear friends! I'm happy and honored to be featured in the Smoothfoam blog. An amazing product that is suitable for so many types of crafts! I took a Smoothfoam board and turned it into a bulletin board. This material is perfect for sticking pins to hang all your little notes.

I covered half with paper and half with paint and added embellishments to complete the look.

Guest Designer - Berry71Bleu

I'm honored to be a guest designer at Berry71Bleu! I really enjoyed designing projects with their unique vintage tags. I love that romantic old style look and I had so much fun matching it with other products and photos.

My first project is a layout with an old photo of my grandfather holding my mom and my aunt. I used Berry71Bleu beautiful tag with extra matching embellishments. I layered papers, painted a little white paint over the top layer and added lace, flowers and buttons. All with a vintage look and feel.

 

My second project is a romantic frame with hints of pink (can you believe it?) and a wonderful Berry71Bleu tag.

 

I added color and texture to the frame with some paint, mists and stamps. I created the "LOVE" title with chipboard letters as a mask and I misted them. I added rub-ons, lace, flowers and buttons to complete the romantic shabby chic look.

Craft for Health

I was so honored to share my story in Kathy and Barb's blog: Craft for Health. Their motto is: "crafting is the secret weapon in helping people", it is so true!

I never thought what a great role scrapbooking and crafting played in my life, other than a job. It was only when Kathy asked me to write about it, I realized the healing power it had in my life and how much it helped me. I know now that everything happens for a reason and this is the path I was supposed to walk in.
