Technique corner: how to scrap bad photos

Everyone has photos that are not exactly good. They are out of focus, the background is too noisy, the angle is wrong etc. Usually these photos find their way to the computer's forgotten libraries or deleted all together. I had three photos like this: there was nothing special about them. There was no interesting background because they were taken in my living room, the colors were different and I didn't really like them. Before I threw them I decided to take another look. I discovered a hidden potential in the fact that all the photos were of my son and they were all kind of funny. I decided to use them in a DT lo I did for My Punch's Kit of the Month Club.


Other than potential the photos had a problem they were boring and other than my son's image there was nothing usable in them. I had to get rid of the background! I did that with an old but fun and easy technique: cutting out the image. You only need to cut out the image you want to use with one important rule: the image can be cut completely without cutting off a leg, changing the hair or anything like that.
