Mixed Media Art Journal Page: Forgive

Today Jews around the world celebrate Yom Kipur, which is the day of atonement. Its central themes are atonement and repentance. Jewish people traditionally observe this holy day with an approximate 25-hour period of fasting and prayer. Let me tell you, fasting is not easy, but it makes you think, reflect and look inside yourself. I always think that this day is not only about asking forgiveness from others and God but also ask forgiveness from your self.

I created this mixed media art journal page with this in mind, forgiving myself and being less judgemental.

The page's background was all created with acrylic paints and stencils. I started with the largest pattern and layered more smaller patterns on it using different colors.

I worked on two spreads simultaneously so I would have a middle page I could later cut into a smaller page to go in between the two larger ones. After cutting the page i added tissue paper pieces to all the pages.

To create the quote I used a piece of white paper that I wrote on with a black pen. Then I inked it all with distress ink. I cut each word into letters and added to the art journal page. Part of the quote went on the first page and one side of the little page and the other part went on the other side of the little page and the second page.
