House Interactive Mini Album

A lot of my friends around the world complained that Christmas is over too quickly and they wished it could last a little longer. So how about putting your holiday photos in a small mini album that can fit in your bag and carry Christmas with you for a little while longer? This mini album is the perfect way to do just that!

I used Basically Bare Happy Little Houses chipboard set to create this mini, but since I had only two houses left (just goes to show you how much I love this set :-)), I used the houses as templates to create more houses that will be my mini album pages. So…let’s start!

First trace them on double sided patterned paper. In order to increase our “real estate” fold the paper in half and only then trace the shape. Cut the shape while the paper is folded living the side or the bottom un cut. This will give you an interactive page that can be opened!
Create three pages: first paper page, fold on the side, second paper page fold on the bottom. The third page will be the second chipboard house and it has three parts: folded square that fits the body of the house, folded triangle that fits the roof and one traced piece that would fit the backside of the chipboard house.

Next we’ll work on the front cover. Create a brick pattern with a stencil and modeling paste. Allow to dry. After drying spray the house with color spray. After it’s dry add a little more color with Photo Vintage distress ink. Next, emboss the house with white embossing powder to create a snow effect. I also added a second layer of sparkle embossing powder for a little bling. Embellish your pages but leave enough room for photos and journaling.

Create holes on the upper part of the roof with a Crop-A-Dile. Make sure to make the hole only in the front page of each folded page otherwise you will not be able to open it once it’s bound. Bind the mini album with a ring and add ribbons.

The photo size that would fit this mini is 2″ X 2 1/2″ max. So now all you need to do is add your holiday photos and carry Christmas with you!

Snowman mixed media canvas

Last weekend we had some crazy weather, lots of snow in not very high places, blackouts, hail storms and non stop rain. All that inspired me to go all wintery and create a snowy mixed media canvas with a happy little snowman.

I've reused one of my un needed 6" X 6" canvases and covered it with gesso. Then I added two large acrylic snowflake shapes and covered them with gesso as well. I added a little light blue color with a color spray and a baby wipe.

To create the snow I used two layers of cheese cloth that reminded me of the snow texture and whiteness. I added my stamped embossed snowman and a title. For more festive atmosphere I also added little snowflakes made from rhinestones and a little bling with stickles.

You can join me for a step by step video tutorial for all the details!

Resolutions mixed media fabric covered mini album

The new year is almost here and it's time to make some important resolutions. I'm planning to make some resolutions and I created this special mixed media mini album covered with fabric so I'll have a really special place to put them in.

I've used a Basically bare 2 rings chipboard binder that is really easy to cover and embellish. I started with covering the binder with fabric adhering it to the binder with fabric adhesive. Then I sprayed it with color sprays to add some color. I also stamped the binder with two colors of distress ink: blue and green.

I embellished it with modeling paste with a swirl pattern and added flowers and leaves.
On the inside I adhered patterned paper and tied a lace ribbon for a final touch and to hide the binder mechanism a little.

Now all I need to do is make my resolutions and make them happen!!

Christmas Mixed Media Canvas

I lovemaking my own holiday gifts and although I don't celebrate Christmas (Jews have Hanukkah) I can totally relate to the lights, the holiday spirit and the joy. Giving someone you love a gift you created yourself is not only rewarding and gratifying but it's also special and unique. Here's an idea for such a present the only danger is that you will like it too much and give it to...yourself.

This mixed media canvas starts with a 8" by 8" canvas. it is then covered with paper, paint, stencils and ink. After the background is ready it's time to create the tree and decorate it with a little bling.

For a final festive touch add glitter and some word stickers. Add a title, I wrote JOY, but you can choose whatever word you like. You can find full step by step instructions in the video.

The canvas can be hanged on the wall, placed on the mantel, be a gift to someone special or even be a decoration in your office. The most important thing is to have a Merry Christmas!
