Saturday MIXTRAVAGANZA - Mixed Media Bulletin Board - Video Tutorial

We are all so busy in our daily lives. No wonder we forget the little things we need to do. I have found a great solution...create a bulletin board to hang our notes so we won't forget!

I'm so happy and excited to share the second project in the Saturday MIXTRAVAGANZA series. This bulletin board is made from canvas and embellished with cute birds sitting on a wire and in the tree. On the wire I've added small clothes pins to hang my notes and reminders.
For full instructions on how to make the bulletin board watch the video.

New Tradition?

In the Jewish religion a woman lights two candles every Friday evening to welcome the Sabbath (Saturday). The kids in Kindergarten have the same custom at the end of the school day on Friday. Each week a different girl is the Sabbath Mother and she lights the candles (with adult supervision of course). My son decided he wants to be a Sabbath Mother and all the explanations that this is a girl's job didn't help, so....we and the kindergarten teacher played along!

I used a paper "flames" on it and added yellow and orange embellishments to create the atmosphere of candle light.

I made this layout in a very minimal design because I wanted to let the photos tell the story. There is no doubt this is one of the cutest most funny things my son has ever come up with!

Sweet Music double canvas

I created this double canvas in one of Limor Webber's Israeli tour workshops. It was an absolute treat to be in this workshop although I didn't follow the teacher's instruction and gave the canvas my own interpretation.

I started with painting the canvas and adhering squares of paper on the background. Then I added texture with modeling paste, cutouts and dripage.

I added the title on a cardstock banner and embellished it with washi tape little flags.

For the other side I layered the photos on big distressed tags and embellished them with metal.

Finally I joined the two canvases with a hinge that I colored in the same paint as the canvases and stamped it a little for more dimension.

To pink or not to pink....

That is the question.....
I made this mini album cover a while back and I have it ever since.

As you know I have two boys and although I put a lot of flowers on my boys' layout, for some reason pink is a little too much for me.

You probably ask why I used pink in the first place...well, that's a good question. It was part of a project I had to do in pink. I of course did it completely different that it was suppose to be and decided to make it a mini album cover.

Now...the question remains to pink or not to pink, should I make it a mini album for my kids or not?
What do you think?

Fly away

Ever since I saw the kaisercraft 3D wall art I wanted to play with it! I finally got the chance  to create something with it as part of X-Mix DT project.

I started by creating circles from modeling paste on a few areas of the panel. Then I sprayed them with glimmer mists of different colors.

I covered all the panels with paper and tore it away to reveal the circles. Then it was time to connect the panels into one unit so I adhered them not completely straight and added the bird on top.

I added all kinds of embellishments as well as the bird which I also covered in paper.
