Double Freebies

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring! A little sunshine, flowers blooming, new leaves on the trees and a new feeling in the air. This has inspired me to treat you with two new digital stamps freebies. One is a small twig with leaves and the other is a branch with leaves on it that can also be a small tree if you turn it.

Here is a little example of what you can do with the stamps.

Technique Corner: Make a Romantic Card

I don't have a lot of chances to make a romantic card with butterflies, a little bling and flowers, but since I was in the mood for one, I decided to make a card anyway. I'm sure I'll find just the right person to give it to. I wrote FLY on the card because I believe that everyone should fly, if it is after their dream, or after their love, fly on the wings of the imagination or fly with the notes of a favorite song. We all should have the opportunity to fly high and be happy.

If you want to make a romantic card here are a few tips:
·         Choose papers with soft, bright colors.
·          Use papers with patterns that are not too big or bold.
·         Pick a theme that has a magical or loving feeling to it like fairies, hearts, birds, butterflies and of course flowers.
·         Distress the edges to soften the look of the paper.
·         Add embellishments that go together with your theme and colors.
·         Add pearls or rhinestones.
·         Add a little glitter or shimmer to enhance the magical effect.

Every place possible

My son loves books. But not just any books. He likes atlases and big books that explain everything about space and the universe. He knows everything there is to know (almost) about planets, stars, the solar system and other exciting space phenomena. He takes his books wherever he goes, so if he'll get bored he will have something to do. This lo is all about such a day.

We went to a beautiful trip, had a picnic and had fun in the great outdoors. And what he was doing? He found a quiet place, sat down on the sand and read his book. I think this is the most adorable, amazing, funny thing I have ever seen! Don't you think? This lo is a DT layout for My Punch's kit of the month club.

Family Day Blog Hop

Today I take part in a special blog hop with eight talented Israeli designers in celebration of Family Day. The blog hop is sponsored by My Punch which is also giving all of you a chance to win a great prize. Each of the eight designers was given an element to include in her design. My element is: Key. I created an altered book titled: The key to happiness.

Other than being an object for opening locks and doors, the key has metaphorical meaning. It can open our hearts, our minds and our happiness. Each one has a different key to their happiness, my key is my children. Their smile opens my heart, their laughter unlocks my anger and their hugs melt my soul. They make me happy when I'm sad, they make me smile when I'm down and they bring me joy by simply being who they are.

The blog hop starts on Wed Feb 22nd and ends on Tue Feb 28th.

Here is what you have to do to have a chance to win a great prize:
·         Go to all eight blogs. Each blog has a link to the next one. Enjoy the beautiful creations and leave a comment in each blog. (Make sure you're leaving a comment in the blog hop post).
·         Each post has a special element, collect them and send a list of the eight elements to Alice at: info@mypunch.co.il.

After the blog hop will end a random winner will be picked from all those who left comment in each blog and sent the list of eight elements.  The prize: 150 Nis gift card for purchasingin My Punch.
Please keep on hopping to the next blog by Orli Shamir

Technique Corner: upgrading flowers

This is a layout with one of my favorite photos of my DH and son. I took this photo when my son was a few weeks old and I love it because it shows how calm and quiet he is and that he really enjoys being in his father's arms.

The flowers in the LO were created from scraps of paper. Here are a few tips for upgrading flowers you create yourself:
·         Create layers to the flower by adhering the same shape in different sizes. It can be circles, flower         shapes, ovals, hearts etc.
·         Give the flower dimension by adhering the layers with 3D foam tape.
·         Distress and ink the edges of the flower.
·         Create a stem from a strip of paper. Add leaves to the stem.
·         Add dimension to the stem by twisting the strip.
·         Add an interesting center to the flower such as a button, bling or a sticker.

Some challenges:

February's FaveCrafts blog hop is all about paper crafts…my favorite! To hop with us go here and find all the artists that are part of the blog hop.

I want to share with you a mini album I made all from paper, different kinds of paper. I had fun playing with thickness and sizes of papers, paper stickers, pockets, tags and even paper ribbons I created myself.

The mini album is titled: "The sweetest things in life are made of these". Each page is dedicated to a different sweet thing of life!

Have best friends and laugh

Sing all day

Be happy always

Find the one

Enjoy

Love

Dance

The mini was a special project I made for Glitz, using only their materials.

Published on Prima's blog

I love Prima's "Build a Page" contest! Every month they have a sketch and blog readers are welcomed to design a layout. It's really fun working with a sketch, because you can interpret it any way you want and add your personal touch. I have done two layouts for the December and January BAP contest and they were both picked up by Prima and published on their blog!!

December LO: ADORABLE: cute layout with two of my old baby photos. Embellished with hand made flags and a lot of flowers, birds and girls sitting on a tree branch.
January LO: NATURE BOY: A nature layout with my boy who loves flowers and the outdoors. The background was misted and I added flowers, a tree and cut out flower shapes from some Prima's papers leftovers.

Everyone can join the fun!

101 Flower Tutorial #12: mix and match

Flowers and Valentine's Day definitely go together! So this flower tutorial is all about upgrading your Valentine's Day flowers. The principal for upgrading any flower is mix and match different materials and adding layers and dimension. I found that using different materials to create one flower is a good way to make sure it comes out special and unique. This flower is made from metal, tulle, paper and felt.

Here is how it's done:

1.       Create a 6 petals flower shape from a piece of metal wire.
2.       Give it a little dimension by folding back the petals. Add a decorative button in the center.

3.       Add a few layers of tulle. 9i didn't like the button in the center with the pink tulle so I changed it.

4.       Adhere the flower to a white felt flower.

5.       Add a dark pink paper flower as the final bottom layer.

You can create this type of flower from any combination of materials. Dive into your stash and find hidden treasures, mix and match them and the results will be beautiful!

Discover layout – Hidden Scrapbooking

I always try to make my layouts interesting; sometimes it works better than others. I think it works best in interactive scrapbooking, when you have to do something other than looking to get the full experience of the layout. In this layout there is an entire part that is hidden under a secret "door" that you have to open and discover what is there.

This is a DT layout for My Punch's Kit of the Month Club. I kept the design simple and geometric. I wanted the interactive part of the design to pop and not cover it with many embellishments. Although like using flowers (a lot of them sometimes) in my boy's layouts, this time I kept the embellishments simple.

The journaling:
you always start any task with so much enthusiasm, patients and wisdom. You really love to solve, explore and discover. I enjoy seeing the look in your eyes.

Printer's tray – A moment in time

I have already told you the story about my grandma. Last Saturday we celebrated her and my Grandpa's birthday. It was a great party, special and emotional, a birthday that requires an equally special gift. Here is the gift I made for them: a printer's tray telling the story of their lives and family.

Four of the twelve boxes have photos of our family and the rest of the boxes each tell a little story about a piece of their shared history.

I used different techniques and materials in my creation and a lot of 3D elements. The most visible are the flowers, which some of them were misted and painted. I also included papers, buttons, stickers, stamps, ribbons, lace, embellishments and some less traditional materials like fabric, pearl necklace and a small crochet I did myself.

They were really happy and excited to get this present and it's now hanging on their wall. I'm so happy!
