101 Flowers Tutorial: Spiral Flower

Hello friends! Spring is here, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the flowers are blooming! It's time to share another flower tutorial from my 101 Flowers series. This flower is easy, versatile and fun! A spiral flower will add extra dimension, color and happiness to any project you create.

To create the spiral flower you will need scrap pieces of paper, scissors, a button and stickles.

1. Cut a circle from a piece of scrap paper. The circle does not need to be accurate!!!

2. Cut the circle into a spiral.

3. Start rolling the spiral from the outer edge.

4. After rolling the spiral adhere to the bottom.

5. Distress the flower by scrunching its edges and inking them.

6. Embellish your flower with a button in the center and a little stickles on the edges.

7. Add two leaves from a scrap of green paper.

Add your flower to a layout, canvas or a card. It's guaranteed to make someone smile!

Scrap fun with Tracie Hudson

Last Friday I had the pleasure of having some scrap fun with Tracie Hudson. Tracie is a very talented designer from England that teaches for Fancy Pants, Echo Park, Glitz and more. Tracie was a guest of My Punch and she was all ours for the entire day and 3 workshops!

I really enjoy having fun every now and then in another designer's workshop. It means I don't have to work! No teaching, explaining or demonstrating…just pure scrapbooking fun for me!

We started with a mini album using Fancy Pants products. I really like their mixed media mini album; it has all kinds of sheets, acrylic, felt, chipboard, canvas, mirror and corrugated board. Tracie had a ready example, but I did my own design.

Then, we designed a canvas with Glitz products. Some of the girls followed Tracie's design, but I went my own way.

It was a wonderful day!

Single sheet of paper: Growing Up mini album

It's time for another great project made from a single sheet of double sided cardstock! A DT project created as part of the Kit of the month club for My Punch.

Just the other day I was going over some photos of my kids and I suddenly realized how fast they grow. Time just flies and we hardly notice the minutes and the hours and suddenly here they are all grown up, going to school, playing with friends, not the little cute babies they were only yesterday… all of that inspired me to create a mini album with a message to my two boys, a message of love from their mom.

The journaling reads: "just yesterday you were in first grade and already you go to the fifth grade. Your shoe size is already bigger than mine, you're almost as tall as me and even your voice has started to change".

The journaling reads: "I remember when you were born, you were so sweet and Mor used to give you a hard time. And here you are a big boy, going to school by yourself, riding your bike and meeting with your friends and going to the third grade.

Here is how you can create your mini album:

1. Cut 4 pieces 4" by 8".

2. Fold them in half.

3. Cut out a 2 1/2" by 1 1/2" triangle from one folded square. Repeat with another square.

4. Fold in half two edges of each square in a valley fold, in order to create a "W".

5. Adhere the two un- cut squares back to back.

6. Adhere two outer flaps of the W pieces to the inside of the mini album. repeat with other piece.

7. Add photos, embellishments and journaling.

Ins(Paper)ation

One of my favorite color combinations is orange and green. I know it's not the first combination you would think of, but surprisingly it works. I was first inspired to explore this combination when I saw a DIY program on TV and there it was a room with this striking duo. (Inspiration does come from the strangest places). I wanted to design a layout with these colors, but I just didn't find the right photo…until I managed to take a photo of my two boys on an orange hammock!

The title reads: Swing.

In this layout I managed to catch two birds with one stone. Not only a layout with a color combo, but also a layout designed on a white background, something I wanted to do for a long time. It's really fun making layouts on white cardstock!

Meet and Make

I'm sorry for the delayed post, but as some of you know Blogger was down for more than 24 hours. I'm happy it's finally back to normal.

Scrap Birthday Party

Last week I celebrated my birthday in a great scrap party with my friends. It was a lot of fun meeting my friends and sharing some quality scrappin' time. We started with a toast! My friend Alice made the most wonderful punch from champagne mixed with fruits.

It was delicious and soon enough we were all cheerful and ready to eat! Looks yummy don't you think?

After the amazing deserts, all prepared by Alice, it was presents' time. Here are some of the presents I got.

Finally we started working. Each of us brought a project that we were working on. When you work with company the ideas flow and the creativity climbs.

Dear Dad card

It's time for another Designer Crafts Connection blog hop. Every first Monday of the month will be the official hopping day, this wonderful group of designers will share with you great projects to help inspire you. The theme this month is Mother's Day, Father's Day or Graduation! I always make cards for my mom's birthday and mother's day but I realized I have never made a card for my dad. I know…I'm a bad daughter . So, this year I decided to mend my ways and make a card for my dad's birthday, which is in two weeks. This card is great for Father's day too, or even for your grandfather or husband.
 





















To make this card you will need:

1 card
4 different kinds of sanding paper.
Nuts and bolts or cog wheels
Nails
Brads
Journaling block or a tag
Eyelets
Letters

1. Cover the front of the card with torn pieces of sand paper.

2. Add your title. I used textured letters to add to the theme of my card.

3. Add nuts, bolts or cog wheels.

4. Tie nails to a thread and attach to the card with eyelets.

5. For finished touch add a journaling block or a tag embellished with special tool shaped brads.

Make your dad happy with a special card!
